As you are aware, the Historic Riviera Theatre is the cultural, artistic and economic center of the Tonawandas. In the early 1980s a non-profit was formed to save the building from demolition and we are fortunate to be approaching the Riviera’s 100th anniversary! While this historic gem attracts over 100,000 visitors to the area each year, directly benefiting the numerous restaurants and retailers nearby, the 1926 theater lacks modern amenities for both patrons and performers, which has long limited the Riviera’s ability to go to the next level by drawing longer running, national shows, and by providing the optimal patron experience.

Thanks to supporters like you, what for so long seemed out of reach is finally possible. In 2021 we were able to purchase the neighboring 71 Webster Street in order to expand the Riviera’s footprint and add badly needed restroom facilities, an expanded lobby/concessions area, areas for artist’s merchandise, and a new box office. Additionally, the Riviera will be constructing new dressing rooms and a comfortable and well-equipped green room to improve the artist experience and to draw even bigger names to the Tonawandas.

With your continued support, the Riviera Theatre Expansion can be completed in 2024 creating the perfect blend of modern comforts and historic character for both patrons and artists!

The expansion of the Riviera Theatre is critical to the sustainability of the organization, as well as the long term economic health of Downtown. The Board of Directors and Staff of the Riviera Theatre is fully committed to completing this long-awaited expansion and establishing the best performing arts center in the region.
