Tom Scime is a lifelong resident of the Tonawanda’s and currently a popular keyboardist in many local and touring bands. He has won multiple WNY Buffalo Music awards for best blues keyboardist, most recently including 2018 and 2019.
Tom began playing the organ at the age of 9 and competed on local and national stages by the age of 13, winning locally. While in high school, Tom’s interest in theatre organs began when he and his organ teacher, Carlos Annibali, worked on a restoration project of a hybrid Wurlitzer.
Tom continued to study music in college, but as life ‘took over’, Tom’s career path turned towards public service as a paramedic and he stopped playing music for a number of years. Tom continued a successful career as a paramedic with the Town of Tonawanda Paramedic department for over 28 years; but his love and passion for the organ never subsided and he began playing music again in the late-90’s.
Tom was recently reunited with the Mighty Wurlitzer at the Riviera Theatre when playing for our concert series with The Chicago Authority, a Chicago tribute band. Since then, Tom has joined our team of house organists and volunteers with maintenance of the organ.
Tom has a wide variety of music styles, but the jazz influence is his favorite and can be heard when he is playing our Mighty Wurlitzer.
